The Rev. Clarence McLaughlin and Bethel Baptist Church, 6620 Old Richmond Road, will celebrate the 154th church anniversary and homecoming at 11 a.m. Sunday with guest the Rev. John B. Doe Sr., former Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, Bluestone Baptist Church and Gwynn’s Chapel Baptist Church. The mass choir will render the music.

Camp Grove Baptist Church will celebrate homecoming during the 11 a.m. worship service with the Rev. John W.W. Howard preaching. Dinner will be served following the service.

River Zion Baptist Church family will celebrate homecoming at 11 a.m. Sunday with the Rev. Alvis Alston delivering the message with the Movement Choir providing the music. Lunch will be served following morning worship.

Beulah Missionary Baptist Church, 918 Monument St., will celebrate its 125th church anniversary and homecoming at 3 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Elsworth Walker delivering the message, accompanied by Hackberry Baptist Church.

Laurel Grove Baptist Church, Sutherlin, will celebrate its 150th church anniversary/homecoming at 3 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Anthony Pass and the church family of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Ringgold as guests.

Bishop William H. Tarpley, of Antioch Baptist Church, will celebrate his 40th pastoral anniversary at 4 p.m. Aug. 24 at Cherrystone Community Center, Chatham, 19115 U.S. 29. There will be no tickets sold at the door. Cost of tickets for adults is $15; ages 8 to 17 is $15; children 4 to 7 is $7; and children younger than 4 free. Trinity Baptist Church, 399 South Main St., will have the Rev. Moses Price deliver the sermon for the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday.

Calvary Baptist Church, 218 Holbrook St., will have the Rev. Al Thompson, of Ebenezer Baptist Church, as guest speaker during the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday.

Sunny Level Baptist Church, 485 Milton Highway, Ringgold, will have the Rev. Thomas Pounds, associate minister of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Ringgold, as guest preacher for the 11:30 a.m. service Sunday.


Rev. Larry Daye and the New Sandy Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Keeling will celebrate Melissa Daye’s birthday during the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday. The color will be orange for the occasion.


Guildfield Missionary Baptist Church, 8657 Franklin Turnpike, Dry Fork, will hold Community Day with fish/chicken plates and a yard sale beginning at 6 a.m. There also will be a vintage car and truck cruise-in and motorcycles on display.

Fairview Baptist Church, 3853 Zion Road, Gretna, usher board ministry will hold a four seasons tea at 2:30 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Keith Jennings and the New Second Buffalo Church as guests.

New Direction Worship Center, 410 Ross St., will change Sunday morning worship time from 11 a.m. to 10 a.m. with Sunday school beginning at 9 a.m. starting this week.
