Westover Christian Academy's cross country finished second overall in the Smith Mountain Invitational.

Westover Christian Academy’s cross country team travelled recently to Smith Mountain Lake for the Smith Mountain Invitational.

With more than 100 runners participating from five teams, Westover finished second overall. Noah Barber placed sixth overall for the varsity boys and Gracie Johnson finished first for the middle school girls.

Kaleigh Johnson finished fourth overall for middle school girls. Colston Ware, Christopher Bowman and Blake Johnson also faired well in the middle school boys division and Noelle Stewart led the varsity girls.

“It was a beautiful day to run and I’m very proud of each runners effort,” said coach Paul Nelson.

The next meet is set for Thursday at Carlisle with middle school starting at 4pm.
