After a 11-7 defeat of Stuarts Draft in the Class 2 semifinals Thursday evening at Calfee Park, the Chatham Cavaliers baseball team advanced to play Lebanon today in the Class 2 state championship game at Calfee Park in Pulaski in hopes to bring home their first state title since 2009. 3:29 p.m.: CLASS 2 BASE FINALS: CHATHAM 23 LEBANON 5 — FINAL
Chatham picks up its third state title overall and first since 2009. Coach Chad Anderson was the coach for the Cavs’ last title a decade ago.
3:14 p.m.: Chatham scores five in the top of the seventh to take a 23-4 lead heading into the bottom of the frame. Cavs three outs from Class 2 title
2:55 p.m.: CHATHAM 18 LEBANON 4 — B6
2:46 p.m.: CHATHAM 18 LEBANON 4 — T6. Chatham six outs away from a Class 2 state title
2:39 p.m.: Chatham answers back with four runs of its own to take a 18-4 lead heading into B5.
2:22 p.m.: Lebanon strikes for three runs in B4, cuts its deficit to 14-4 heading into B5.
1:58: p.m.: Chatham piles on seven runs in T4, bars around for the second time in three innings and the Cavs lead 14-1 heading into B4.
1:58 p.m: Jacob Miller’s two-run single to center increases Chatham’s lead to 9-1 with runners on first and second with one out in T4
1:46 p.m.: Arnold, Reed and Hunter Adkins each with 2 RBI and Potojecki has struck out five of the 12 batters he’s faced. CHATHAM 7 LEBANON 1 — T4
1:39 p.m.: Grayson Reed’s RBI single scores Grant Reynolds and makes it a 7-1 contest, with Chatham leading, heading into B3. Matthew Arnold, Hunter Adkins and Reed each with a pair of RBI for the Cavs.
1:33 p.m.: Andrew Potojecki strikes out three of the four he faces in B2 and Chatham leads 6-1 in T3.
1:21 p.m.: Arnold and Hunter Adkins each add two-run singles and Grayson Reed picks up an RBI after getting plunked with a pitch with bases loaded. Cavs strike for five runs in T2, lead Lebanon 6-1 after 1.5
1:16 p.m.: Grayson Reed plunked by a pitch with the bases loaded and the Cavs pull back in front 2-1. Matthew Arnold follows with a two-run single up the middle and Chatham leads 4-1 with bases juiced and two outs in the top of the second.
1:07 p.m.: Lebanon answers back with a run on a Chatham error and the game is knotted at 1-all after one full inning.
12:59 p.m.: After a half inning, Chatham leads Lebanon 1-0 in the Class 2 state title game.
12:54 p.m: Grayson Reed laces a triple to right-center field and Brae Adkins brings him around with a double to right-center that gives the Cavs an early 1-0 lead.
