Dan River High School Senior Tomi Lauren McGinnis committed to continue her volleyball and track career at Randolph College on Friday.

McGinnis, a four-sport varsity high school letterman, plans on majoring in education at the Lynchburg school.

In her four years at Dan River, McGinnis played varsity softball for three years and ran cross country for two. This year she will be competing in her second year of track, after qualifying for the Class 2 Virginia High School League state track competition last season as a member of the 4x800 relay team.

In four years on the varsity volleyball team, she earned one honorable mention and two first team All Dogwood District selections.

McGinnis also was captain for two years and was awarded the most valuable player recognition her senior year. In addition to her love and passion for the sports she plays, she is also involved in many extracurricular activities. She is currently enrolled in her seventh semester of JROTC at Dan River, holding the rank of the Wildcat battalion’s cadet command sergeant major.

McGinnis also serves as the senior class president and Pittsylvania County School Board representative for Dan River High School.
