The Danville Concert Association kicks off its new season Saturday evening with a bit of a twist.
The organization is slightly shifting from its usual lineup this year and showcasing Danville’s River District at the same time.
Saturday night’s concert features The Kruger Brothers, hailed for innovative acoustic music that blends classical with folk, adds a little jazz and then sprinkles on Appalachia.
Their career began as they were just young street musicians playing for small change in Munich in the 1970s. Now German siblings Jens and Uwe Kruger, along with New-York born bassist Joel Landsburg, can be found on international stages playing with symphonies.
Earthy and sophisticated, the Kruger Brothers’ ability to blend classical and folk music is what makes them one-of-a-kind. They are also known for their dueling banjos in the film “Deliverance.”
