Danville's Smokestack Theatre Company is presenting its first Christmas production this week: "It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play." The beloved American holiday classic comes to life as a live 1940s radio broadcast. With the help of an ensemble that brings a few dozen characters to the stage, the story of idealistic George Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life one fateful Christmas Eve. There are four public performances. A cast of eight actors — including two live Foley artists — will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. At 7:30 p.m. Thursday, a special "pay what you can" performance will benefit Danville-South Central Out of the Darkness Walk, a local suicide prevention organization. While supporting this cause, Smokestack Theatre is hoping to reach families who may not be able to afford ticket prices. All performances will be held at the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History. Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for children under 13 and museum Members. Tickets are available on Eventbrite.
