Solar farm good for all involved

To the editor:

I was interested to read the article last week on a possible solar power plant (“Amazon announces plans to bring solar farm to Pittsylvania County: leaders unclear on details”).

I see this as a good thing. There will be some construction, and there will be a few permanent jobs. Those jobs will not be trivial to those who get them. There will be little noise and no air pollution, and nobody will die from black lung or a mine explosion.

This is also a small step toward climate change survival.

But it’s fine to just enjoy the journey.

Learn about city’s history

To the editor:

I am writing to thank reporter John Crane and the Register & Bee for the superb coverage of the Civil Rights exhibit opening Aug. 10 at the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History (“Museum to debut exhibit on civil rights,” July 30).

A lot of excitement is already being generated for the opening reception that will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. There is no admission charge for the entire weekend. All are invited to visit, learn more about Danville’s united history and become a member of Danville’s premier cultural destination.
