Eric Stamps a true 'public servant'
To the editor:
Politics can bring up feelings of skepticism and mistrust when public opinion lends itself to the corruption that plagues modern government. Organizations such as Represent Us have formed in recent years with the purpose of working towards finding a better way and many of them are having a positive affect. More and more politicians are treating the office less like a career and more like the office of a public servant, the way it was meant to be.
Eric Stamps is one such newcomer in politics and is on the ballot for the Virginia House of Delegates in the 14th District. His political motives are pure, and he believes in the words of Abraham Lincoln, “government of the people, by the people, for the people” to keep the government free of corruption and having to answer to all its citizens.
I could extol the virtues of his political platform, but to truly understand it you simply need to know he stands for human rights. You, me, our families and neighbors, we all deserve “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” as we are promised in the Declaration of Independence. If we work hard, we should be able to provide for our families, receive an education and have access to affordable healthcare. We should also have a fair and equitable justice system, a healthy planet, a political system free from corruption and, most of all, equal rights no matter our income, gender, religion, sexual orientation or ethnicity. It’s our right as Americans.
Stamps has a vested interest in making our community a better place. His young children will be a part of the future generation who will either continue our good work or be forced to correct our mistakes. For him , the stakes couldn’t be any higher. If you stand for the same American values he does, get out to vote Nov. 5 for Eric Stamps, Virginia House of Delegates, 14th District.
