Column unfair attack on Trump
To the editor:
I am writing in response to Leonard Pitts’ July 23 column, “Is Donald Trump’s GOP a ‘hate group’?”
Pitts wrote that President Trump demanded that four liberal congresswomen, four women of color, “go back” to the countries they came from. Unfortunately, Pitts took two words out of context from the president’s Twitter tweet and quoted them back to us. The president was responding to the congresswomen’s insistence on the New Green Deal and their socialist agenda. Trump wrote: “So interesting to see ‘Progressive’ Democratic Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world, now loudly and viciously telling the people of the U.S., the greatest and most powerful nation on earth, how our government is to be run. Why don’t they go back and help the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came then come back and show us how!”
It’s a fact that one of these congresswomen has made very anti-Semitic statements, which Americans have well noted. They, along with many Democrats, are trying to smear the president.
I find it ridiculous to write “Donald Trump’s GOP.” Would you write “Clinton’s Democrats?” Trump is not a typical Republican and was a registered Democratic for many years. Our president is a patriot who loves everyone and has done much good for America, especially eliminating human trafficking.
