Mrs. Agnes Penultima "Nultie" Johns Wiseman died on Saturday, September 7, 2019, at the age of 96. Mrs. Wiseman was born on October 20, 1922, at the family farm, "Locust Level", in Buckingham County, Va. She was the daughter of Allen Anderson Johns and Lucy Anderson Allen Johns. She was baptized as an infant at Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the church of her parents. She remained an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Danville, Va., since the 1950s. Mrs. Wiseman was educated in Buckingham County Schools, Longwood University and the College of William and Mary, where she received her Masters in Library Science. She became a Librarian at Clover High School, Randolph-Henry High School, George Washington High School and Danville Community College where she retired from in 1987. She married Plumer W. Wiseman of Danville, Va. in 1956. They enjoyed a life full of bird watching, fishing, traveling, and spending time with their families. She became the caregiver for many a critter that her husband brought home. Mrs. Wiseman was actively involved in her church, the Dorthea Henry Chapter of the DAR and was a founding member of the Westbrook Natural History Society. She was an avid reader, crossword puzzler and genealogist. She loved cooking and canning and sharing with her friends and neighbors. She enjoyed beach trips, crabbing, and RVing across the country with her sister. She was preceded in death by her husband, Plumer W. Wiseman and her sister, Lucy Johns Simons. Mrs. Wiseman is survived by two daughters, Mary Wiseman Foster (Ken) of Dry Fork, Va., and Penultima "Sis" Bradford (Tim) of Richmond, Va.; six grandchildren, Martha Foster Stayer (Jesse) of Dry Fork, Va., Sarah Foster of Quito, Ecuador, Rob Foster of Charleston, S.C., Rebecca Foster of Charleston, S.C., Annie Bradford of Richmond, Va., and Emily Bradford of Indonesia; and two great-grandchildren, David and Judah Stayer. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2019, at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Steve Willis officiating. Burial for the immediate family will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 12:15 until 1:45 p.m. and at other times will be at the residence of Mary and Ken Foster, 5969 Dry Fork Road.
