Christine W. Wheeler, age 84, went to be with her Lord on­­­­­­­­­ Friday, October 4, 2019, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center in Wilmington, N.C. Born on December 7, 1934, in Danville, Va., she was a daughter of the late John Fosco Williams and Rosa Hollandsworth Williams. She was employed with Dan River Mills at the Executive Center and a member of New Life Community Church. Ms. Wheeler enjoyed walking, working in her yard and reading. Her true joy came from reading God's word; she was an amazing prayer warrior. She is survived by her son, Donnie Wheeler; her daughter, Susan Weis (Matt); grandchildren, Rachael Vernon (Austin), Mackenzie Weis (Cory), Zackary Wheeler, Camden Weis, and Sarah Wheeler; great-granddaughters, Layton and Genevieve Vernon; sister, Elaine Martin; brother, Reuben Williams (Joanne); and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, as well as her sisters, Katherine McKinney, Gladys Smith, Bethel Wright, and Pearl Williams; and her brother, Elmo Williams. Funeral services will be conducted 12 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2019, at Swicegood Chapel with Pastor Joseph White officiating. Visitation will precede the service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to New Life Community Church, 3837 US HWY 29, Danville, VA 24540, or Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Dr. Wilmington, NC 28401.
