Ruby Underwood Walker, 101, formally of the Glenwood Community, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, August 11, 2019, at Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care, where she was a resident for over 15 years. Mrs. Walker was born on March 1, 1918, in Danville, Va., daughter of the late Cordis Underwood and Crissie Dalton Underwood. She worked as a weaver at Dan River Mills for 42 years until her retirement. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed teaching and painting ceramics. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Walker was married to the late Joseph Richard Walker. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by siblings, Juanita Setliff, Myrtle Newsome, Sager Underwood, and Helen Robley. Survivors include, son, Thomas T. Walker and wife, Linda, of Danville, Va.; grandchildren, Pamela Walker Huck and husband, Joe, of Raleigh, N.C. and Christopher Thomas Walker and wife, Marsha, of Ringgold, Va.; and great- grandchildren, Sarah Huck of Los Angeles, Calif. and Anna Huck of Raleigh, N.C. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 15, 2019, at 2 p.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with the Rev. Mike Wiles officiating. Interment will follow the service in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home on Thursday and at other times will be at the residence of her son, Thomas Walker, 115 Summit Rd, Danville, VA 24540. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial donations be made to Gods Pit Crew, 2499 N Main St., Danville, VA 24540, or a charity of your choice.
