Gerald Lee Stephens, 70, of 5951 Old Hwy. 86 North, Providence, N.C. went home to be with the Lord on October 22, 2019, after being in declining health for the several months. Gerald was born in Danville, Va., on November 11, 1948, the son of the late Robert Lee Stephens and Beatrice Lookabill Gregory. He had lived all of his life in Pittsylvania and Caswell Counties. Gerald had retired as Operations manager with 24 years of service from General Growth Corporation, (Piedmont Mall). He served with U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and he was of the Baptist Faith. On April 23, 1971, he married Joyce Millner Stephens who survives of the residence. Gerald, is also survived by two sons, Dallas Wayne Stephens (Stephanie) and Daniel Lee Stephens (Brandi); one daughter, Dixie Lynn Runey (Patrick); one sister, Sherry S. Burton (Doug); one brother-in-law, Larry Millner; and eight grandchildren, Alexander Stephens, Paxson Stephens, Anna Stephens, Perry Stephens, Andrew Stephens, Patrick Runey III, Avery Stephens, and Mason Runey. A memorial service will be conducted for Gerald on Saturday, October 26, 2019, at 3 p.m. at Purley United Methodist Church by the Reverend Howard James with Military Honors conducted by the U.S. Navy. The family will receive friends following the service on Saturday at the church and at other times guests are welcome to visit the home, 5951 Old Hwy. 86 North, Providence, NC 27379.
