Melody "Joy" Haraway Spicer, age 40, of Pelham, N.C., went to be with her Lord and Savior, Thursday, July 4, 2019, at her home place. She was born August 14, 1978 in Danville, Va. to Kenneth Haraway and the late Essie Smith Haraway. Joy was married to Jesse Spicer who survives of the residence. As her name describes, Joy rejoiced and found happiness in most all things in her life. She loved the Lord, her family, and traveling. But, her greatest pleasure in life on this earth, was the privilege God blessed her with as being a mommy to her precious son, Mason. In addition to her father and husband, she is survived by three sons, Mason Spicer, Aaron Spicer and Jesse Spicer Jr.; two sisters, Hope and husband, Stanford Wells III and Charity Haraway; a brother, Jonathan Haraway; a granddaughter, Aubree Spicer; and nephews, Stanford Wells IV and Colton Wells. A memorial service will be held, 2 p.m., Monday, July 8, 2019, at Norris Funeral Services, Inc., West End Chapel, 511 Church Ave., Danville, VA 24541 with Dustin Dickens officiating. The family will receive friends 12:30 till 1:45 p.m., Monday, July 8, 2019, at Norris West End Chapel prior to the service.
