George William "Tiny" Setliff, age 72, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2019, at Wake Forest Medical Center. He was born in Danville, on July 3, 1947, a son of Irene Pinnix Setliff Parham of Danville and the late Leo Setliff. "Tiny" was a graduate of George Washington High School and Danville Community College. An avid sports fan, especially baseball, "Tiny" began coaching little league baseball while in high school. As a young adult, he was a big fan of the New York Yankees and later in life his love of baseball was with the Atlanta Braves and the Danville Braves. He was employed with Dibrell Tobacco Company for 27 years and was formerly associated with the Danville Register and Bee as a photographer for their sports department. After he joined the Braves organization, he assisted in clubhouse operations for the Atlanta Braves, as well as the Danville Braves, meeting players and coaches from many sports. He was a member of North Main Baptist Church, and the Danville Sports Club where he was inducted into the Register and Bee Sports Hall of Fame. He also loved to travel and used his photographer skills to capture many special moments. Survivors include his mother, Irene Parham; a sister, Judy Parham Keesee, and several cousins. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Townes Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Fred Unger and the Reverend Lee Von Eime officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 8, 2019, at Townes Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. prior to the service.
