Wayne Morris Scearce departed this Earthly life to his Heavenly home on Sunday, June 9, 2019, at the Salem VA Hospital, Salem, Va. after several months of declining health. Born on January 8, 1946, in Danville, Va., he was a son of the late Robert Wesley Scearce Sr. and Arneta Hudgins Scearce. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by three brothers, Harold B. Scearce, Donald L. Scearce, and Alfred J. Scearce. Surviving are two brothers, Robert W. Scearce Jr. (Ruth) of Ringgold, Va., and Freddie R. Scearce (Pat) of Danville, Va.; and two sisters-in-law, Alice Scearce of Danville, Va. and Brenda Scearce of Dry Fork, Va. Also surviving is a dedicated nephew, Donald L. Scearce, Jr. (Poogie), as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. Wayne lived his entire life in Pittsylvania County and Danville where he worked at Dan River Mills, Associated Services Corp. and Mountain Hill Mini Mart. He was an avid bowler and a member of The Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He also served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp at Camp Lejeune, N.C. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at 2 p.m. from the graveside at Floral Hills Memory Gardens with the Reverend Carl Burger officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Marines. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Danville Cancer Association, 223 Riverside Drive, Suite J, Danville, VA 24541.
