Wayne Lynn Hylton Sr., 83, of 8467 Martinsville Highway departed this life on Saturday, October 12, 2019, after a decline in health for the past year. Wayne was born in Pittsylvania County, Va., on July 4, 1936, a son of the late Ernest Tatum Hylton Sr. and Sally Soyars Hylton. Wayne retired from Disston and attended Vandola Baptist Church. He enjoyed bird hunting with his dogs, fishing, and a gardening with his brothers, Eual and James. On December 20, 1958, he married June Wall Hylton, who survives of the residence. Survivors also include two sons, W. Lynn Hylton Jr., and wife, Karen, Ronnie L. Hylton and wife, Angie; five brothers, Eual, James, John, Curtis, and Marvin Hylton; a sister, Ellen H. Hyler; three grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Davenport (Quincy), Amitie Paige Hylton, and Walker Lee Hylton; two great-granddaughters, Sadie and Savanah Davenport; and a number of nieces and nephews. Four sisters, Cora H. Hyler, Gladys H. Voyles, Iris H. Ware, Mabel H. Davis; and three brothers, Ernest, Lawrence, and Leonard Hylton, predeceased him. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at 2 p.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel conducted by Dr. Scott Bortz, the Rev. Don Reynolds, and Mr. Glen Hudson. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel and at other times at the residence.
