Walton Dale Hedrick, 80, of 453, Gemstone Lane, Danville, died on Wednesday, October 23, 2019, at Sovah Health, after being in declining health for the past ten years. Mr. Hedrick was born in Pittsylvania County on October 4, 1939, son of the late Major Charlie Raymond Adkins and Mamie Frances Merricks Adkins. His biological father was the late Smith Walton Hedrick. He spent most of his life in the Danville and Pittsylvania County areas where he was a supervisor for Dan River Mills until his retirement. He proudly served his country in the United States Army 101st Airborne and was a member of the American Legion Dan River Post 1097 for over 23 years. Mr. Hedrick was also a member of the Calvary Church of the Nazarene. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Nancy Hedrick; his second wife, Faye Hedrick; his third wife, Peggy Hedrick; a son, Jonathan Scott Hedrick; and stepsons, Kevin Haselden and Darrell Haselden. Survivors include daughter, Tracey Hedrick of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; stepsons, Rodney Haselden and wife, Sandra, of Danville, Va., and Jonathan Raper of Lynchburg, Va.; and a special dog, Princess. A memorial service will be conducted at 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with Minister Hershel Stone, Pastor Bane Angles and the Rev. Jared Austin officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Dan River Post 1097 and the United States Army. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 4 until 5 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times will be at the residence, 453 Gemstone Lane, Danville, VA 24541.
