Randolph Anderson Gibson, 86, formerly of Mountain Hill Road, departed this life on Saturday, September 28, 2019 after a decline in health for several years. Randolph was born in Danville, Va. on July 23, 1933 a son of the late Claude Anderson Gibson and Ada Elizabeth Martin Gibson. Randolph served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1954-1956 where he was an MP. He worked for Dan River Inc. in the dye house. He was an active member of Lakewood Community Church where he was a choir member and leader. On July 13, 1957 he married, Marie Bledsoe Gibson, who died on April 10, 2013. Survivors include his daughter, Sandra G. Goodwin, and husband, Rob; a granddaughter, Jessica G. Walker, and husband, Randy; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Samantha and Jacob Walker; a great-grandchild on the way; a stepbrother, David McDowell, and wife, Phyllis; a stepsister, Elizabeth Mills. In addition to his wife, two brothers, Clyde and Grady Gibson predeceased him. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 30, 2019 from 5 until 6 p.m. at Lakewood Community Church followed by a service at 6 p.m. Burial with military honors will follow on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Highland Burial Park.
