Virginia Elizabeth "Mickey" Thompson Franks, 84, of 617 Sandy Creek Church Road, died on Saturday, September 28, 2019, at Roman Eagle, after being in declining health for the past two years. Mickey was born in Danville, Va., on December 10, 1934, daughter of the late Wesley Dewey Thompson and Edna Florence Hall Thompson. She spent all of her life in the Danville area, where she worked in the 1B Weave at Dan River Mills for 20 years until her retirement. She was a member of Ascension Lutheran for over 30 years. Mickey was known for her love of traveling when her health permitted, her love of flowers; she was even a member of the African Violets Club; and she was devoted to her cats especially her cat Mystic. On November 23, 1961, she married Phillip Ellis Franks who survives of the residence. In addition to her husband, Mickey is survived by sister, Doris Thompson Harvey and husband, Ralph, of Danville, Va.; nieces, Lisa Russell and husband, Bob, Melissa Farmer and husband, Tim, and Adrienne Tate, all of Danville, Va.; and nephew, John Thompson Jr. and wife, Linda, of Danville, Va. A memorial graveside will be conducted on Thursday, October 3, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Highland Burial Park with Pastor Ralph Harvey officiating.
