David Dawson, 92, of 172 Mountain Hill Road, Danville, Va., was reunited with his wife, Audrey, and meet his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 27, 2019. Mr. Dawson was born in Pittsylvania County, Va., on December 23, 1926, a son of the late W.H. Dawson and Ella Talbert Dawson. He lived her entire life in the Danville area and he retired from Dan River Mills where he worked as a Loom Fixer. He was an active member of Floral Hills United Methodist Church and later at Temple Baptist Church while his health permitted him to do so. He served in the US Army during WWII and was a member of American Legion Post #325. On September 10, 1948, he married, Audrey Bliss Dawson, who died on August 9, 2019. Survivors include two daughters, Claudia Ann Aaron (Charles) of Cascade, Va., and Susan Gale Burns of Danville, Va.; a son, David W. Dawson of Danville, Va.; brothers, Joe Robert Dawson (Jean) and Delano Dawson (Iris); three grandchildren, Ann Marie Eaton, Wesley A. Hearp, and Raymond T. Gregory; three great-granddaughters, and two great-great granddaughters. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by five brothers, Charlie, Fletcher, Mack, Dennis, and William Dawson Jr.; and two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Shupe and Nettie Motley. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Floral Hills United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the church.
