Artie Lee Collie, 72, of 1981 Countryside Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Sovah Health after being in declining health for the past two weeks. Mr. Collie was born on March 19, 1947, son of the late Artie Bee Collie and Susie Irby Collie. He spent all of his life in the Ringgold area where he worked at D & B Market until his retirement. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Vernon Hill, Va. Survivors include siblings, Marie C. Yates of Stokesdale, N.C., Earlene C. Tate (Les Young) of Danville, Va., Thelma C. Yeatts (Leon) of Java, Va., Yvonne C. Overbey (Donnie) of Ringgold, Va., and Martha Collie of Danville, Va.; extended family, Chris Dalton (Joy), Gauge Dalton, Coleman Haskins and Marcia Dalton (Carl). In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Hazel Epperly, Lena Brumfield and David Collie. Funeral service for Mr. Collie will be conducted on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with the Reverend Mike McDowell officiating. Interment will follow the service at County Line Baptist Church Cemetery in Java, Va. The family will receive friends on Monday night from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times will be at the residence, 1981 Countryside Drive, Ringgold, VA 24586. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial donations be made to the Ringgold Vol Fire and Rescue at PO Box 10 Ringgold, VA 24586.
