Dorothy Edith Watson Cash, 98, formerly of 1029 Joe Watson Dr., Lynchburg, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday evening, June 5, 2019, at the Piney Forest Rehabilitation Center in Danville, Va. Born December 29, 1920, in Bedford County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Annie Roach Watson. She attended grade school in Bedford County and was employed by the Boonsboro Country Club until her retirement. She was a member of the Holcomb Rock Baptist Church. Dorothy was a quiet, kind spirited lady who loved the Lord and who was always willing to help anyone who needed her. She often placed others before her own needs to make sure that they were well cared for. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Laura Ann Watson Newman; one sister, Anna Watson Watts; six brothers, Joseph Clifford, Nathan, Clinton, William, Oscar and Thomas Watson. Dorothy is survived by one sister, Elizabeth (Edward) Jones; one brother, Fulton (Texanna) Watson, both of Lynchburg; two sisters-in-law, Bernice and Ami Watson, both of Lynchburg, Va.; three devoted grandchildren, Richard Purvis, of Hampton, Va., Reginald (Renee) Purvis, of Danville, Va., and Patricia Newman (Lucas) Hutteman, of Matthews, N.C.; four beloved great-grandchildren, Morgan, Matthew, Alexander and Jonathan; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family would also like to give special thanks to the many kind caregivers of the Piney Forest Health and Rehabilitation Center in Danville, Va. for the acts of kindness and comfort that was given to her during her residence at the facility. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Monday, June 10, 2019, at Holcomb Rock Baptist Church with Pastor David Stewart officiating and Dr. Carl B. Hutcherson as eulogist.
