Stanley William Adkins Jr. of Arlington, Texas, passed away on August 24, 2019. Mr. Adkins was born in Danville, Virginia, on May 27, 1937, to the late Stanley William Adkins Sr. and late Gladys May Brown. He grew up in Danville attending George Washington High School and pitching for the 1953 and 1954 State Championship baseball teams. Mr. Adkins also served his country in the United States Army during the early 1960's. He worked for Kmart Corporation, working his way up from the warehouse, managing stores and then working in the division office. He retired with Kmart Corporation. Mr. Adkins continued his love of all sports but especially loved watching golf and tennis in his later years. His greatest love was for his family, and he loved spending any time that he could with them. Mr. Adkins leaves behind his ex-wife and forever friend, Judy Adkins of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; his daughter, Carol Adkins of Midlothian, Virginia; his son, Chris Adkins and daughter-in-law, Christine, of Bedford, Texas; and his daughter, Catherine Adkins Renfro and son-in-law, Russ, of Flower Mound, Texas. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Benjamin Stanfield, Philip Stanfield, William Stanfield, Mary Catherine Doerr, Jonathan Renfro, and Erica Renfro along with two great-grandchildren, Aurora Stanfield and Lilyanna Stanfield. He was preceded in death by his great-grandchild, Harper Stanfield. A private, family celebration of his life was held on November 9, 2019. at his daughter's home in Flower Mound, Texas.
