A 70-year-old Cascade woman died following a Wednesday evening crash on U.S. 58 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia State Police report.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Joan J. Stewart was traveling west on U.S. 58 near Va. 51 — just outside of Danville — when the vehicle ran off the right side of the highway, hit a ditch and overturned, according to a news release from state police. It then rammed into a building.

Police report she was wearing a seat belt in the 2015 Toyota Venza. She was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital where she later died.

The crash is still being investigated.

This marks the second deadly crash in Pittsylvania County this week.

Edwin Samuel Wilson, 67, of Nathalie, died in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday evening in Gretna.
