Generalized threats against private schools prompted one Danville facility to close on Wednesday and another to take extra security measures, authorities reported.
The Danville Police Department received notification on Tuesday of a threat made against private schools, according to Lt. Richard Chivvis. Chivvis described the threat as generalized and said it was not made against specific schools in the Danville area.
"Nothing originated from here," Chivvis said, but was unsure if it was a regional or state threat.
Authorities then notified local private schools. Those schools made their own security decisions, police state. Westover Christian Academy closed on Wednesday, Chivvis said.
Sacred Heart Catholic School Principal Kira Kania told the Register & Bee the school was taking added security measures by not allowing students to go outside.
Since the threat did not originate the area, the Danville Police Department is not actively investigating the case, Chivvis said.
