Police report investigating a shooting that happened during a botched drug deal.
On Saturday, at about 1:40 p.m., a man drove himself to the emergency room of Sovah Health-Danville complaining of a gunshot wound in his back, according to a search warrant filed in Danville Circuit Court.
He was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released later that day, Capt. Matt Carter wrote in an email.
The shooting, the man told police, occurred in the 200 Block of Epps Street. Court documents did not state when the shooting occurred.
Investigators searched a car at the scene and reported finding possible marijuana and cocaine inside, the search warrant states.
“Evidence suggests that [the man] was involved in drug distribution,” Carter wrote. “He is no longer cooperating with the investigation.”
The man has not been charged and police are still investigating the incident.
