At least 1,000 attendees browsed and purchased a variety of homemade goods, waited in winding lines to enjoy a wide selection of food and drinks, and got a small taste of history at the 40th Callands Festival on Saturday. One of the many ways the community marks the changing season, this festival annually celebrates the history of Pittsylvania County at its landmark courthouse and clerk’s office sites situated on either side of Sago Road. The restored 18th century brick-and-wooden structures serve as the centerpieces for the event.
