Jacqueline “Jackie” Menefee has announced her candidacy for the Westover District seat on the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors.

Menefee has 32 years of experience working with the Virginia Division of Child Support Enforcement.

After growing up in Danville, where she worked through the public school system and obtained a social work certificate from Danville Community College, Menefee studied human services counseling at Old Dominion University. She has lived in Pittsylvania County since 2005.

If elected, she will aim to increase community engagement and involvement in the county’s operations.

“My focus is not political but people,” she said in a news release.

She said she will advocate for the county “becoming fiscally conservative and developing economic growth.”

The Westover seat is currently held by Ronald Scearce, who assumed the position in 2016. Elections for the board of supervisors are held every four years.

The board of supervisors election will take place Nov. 5.
