A suspect has been arrested after a strong-arm robbery Thursday afternoon at Walmart, Danville police reported.

A 79-year-old man told authorities he was assaulted and his wallet was taken at the store on Mount Cross Road, according to a news release from the Danville Police Department. He was taken to the emergency room for treatment of minor injuries. There was no weapon involved.

Staff members of Walmart, along with responding Danville officers, were able to get a description of the suspect and vehicle after viewing video from the store.

Officers then were able to “rapidly locate” the vehicle at a home in Danville, police reported. When police approached, the suspect, identified at 43-year-old Jessie Jones, ran from officers.

He was captured after a brief foot chase, police reported.

Jones, of Danville, is charged with robbery in connection to the Walmart incident. He also has an outstanding probation violation. He’s being held in Danville City Jail with no bond.
