CHATHAM, Va. Robert Lee Bushley, age 81, of 112 Hedrick Dr. Chatham, entered into rest on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born on May 11, 1938, in Brookfield, Pa., the son of the late Rial Bushley and the late Florence Perrin Bushley. He was married to the late Anna Marie Owen Bushley. He was a member of Concord Methodist Church and served four years in United States Air Force. He is survived by two sons, Troy R. (Sharon) Bushley and Thomas R. (Dawn) Bushley; two stepsons, James G. (Lisa Ann) Motley III and Joseph C. Motley; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Timothy J. Bushley. Funeral services will be conducted at Scott Funeral Home on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Tobias Lutz officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Scott Funeral Home on Saturday, November 30, 2019 from 1 until 2 p.m. and at other times will be at the residence, 112 Hedrick Dr. Chatham, Va. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Danville Cancer Association. Jeannette Faye (Fowlkes) Howard, 79, of Vernon Hill, Va., passed away on Monday, November 25, 2019. She was born on July 1, 1940 to the late John L. Soyars and Pencie M. Soyars. Mrs. Howard was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time fishing with them. She also is a passed President of the Danville Little League. She is survived her son, Tim Fowlkes (Beth); daughter, Connie Mayhew (Roger); brother, David Soyars; sister, Linda Myers; two step-sons, Stevie Howard, and Steve Jarvis; grandchildren, Ronnie Mayhew, Brian Jarvis, and Josh Jarvis; and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Howard; and a son, Robert Fowlkes. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at Norris Funeral Services, Inc., West End Chapel, 511 Church Ave., Danville, Va. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral and at other times at the residence of her son, Tim Fowlkes. John Thomas Payne, 92, of 234 April Lane, Danville, Va., died on Sunday, November 24, 2019, at his residence after being in declining health for several years. Mr. Payne was born in Pittsylvania County, Va., on February 12, 1927, son of the late John S. Payne and Lucy Boles Payne. He spent all of his life in the Danville area where he worked as a truck driver for McLean Trucking Co. until his retirement. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Payne loved the outdoors and enjoyed farming, fishing and camping. He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents; brother, Morris Payne; sister, Nancy Burnette; and his wife, Frances Odell Payne who died on March 4, 1992, predeceased him. Survivors include, children, Jimmie Payne (Joyce), Brenda Haraway (Tim), Richard Payne, Pamela Bradley and Timothy Payne; brother, Jerry Payne; sisters, Katherine Rigney and Dorothy Walton; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 1 p.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with the Rev. Richard Berkley officiating. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 until 1 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times will be at the residence, 234 April Lane, Danville, VA 24540.
