United Way is a nonprofit organization that works with local charitable organizations in a coalition to improve the community. 

Education, Work, Health and Reading: The United Way of Danville-Pittsylvania County supports local nonprofits that provide servicing aligning with the organization's goals

The United Way supports local agencies that align with its goals and focus areas.

Its goals are to help: children reading on grade level by third grade; students graduate high school; adults become financially self-sufficient; people in crisis who are in need of medical and emergency care; and children reading on grade level by third grade.
