Union Street Missionary Baptist Church will recognize deaconess Judy Hairston as first lady during the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday.



REVIVALS

White Rock Baptist Church, 418 Locust Lane, will hold revival services at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday with guest preacher the Rev. Larry Covington, from Ebenezer United Church of Christ of Burlington, North Carolina. Various choirs will sing nightly.

New Ephesus Baptist Church, 375 Ephesus Church Road, Semora, North Carolina, will observe revival Wednesday with the Rev. Eugene Lea and United Believers in Christ from Virgilina; Thursday with elder William Terry and New Mount Olive Apostolic Church from Halifax; Friday with the Rev. Teresa Hardy and Ebenezer Baptist Church from Danville. Music will be rendered by the guest churches and services will begin at 7 p.m.

BINGO NIGHT, FOOD and PRIZES

Christ Episcopal Church, corner of Ridgecrest Drive and Franklin Turnpike, will hold bingo night from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday for $10 for adults; $6 for children younger than 12. Price includes hot dog, chips, cookies, beverage and two bingo cards. For more information, call (434) 836-2060.

ANNIVERSARIES

Bennett Memorial Missionary Baptist Church women’s ministry will celebrate its eighth anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday with guest speaker overseer Loretta Murray, of Greater Living Word Ministries in Danville. Ladies are asked to wear hats in memory of first lady Delois Strader Hairston. Refreshments will be served.

Silver Creek Baptist Church will celebrate the Rev. Bruce Featherston’s second pastoral anniversary. Elder Brandon Smith, associate minister of St. Mark Baptist Church, Alton, will preach the 11 a.m. service. The Rev. Ben Elliott and Vernon Baptist Church will be guests for the 3 p.m. service. Lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m.

Watson Level Missionary Baptist Church, 2900 Toshes Road, Chatham, will celebrate its 138th anniversary at 2:30 p.m. Sunday with guest the Rev. Stedman Payne Sr. and Abundant Life Ministries in Hurt.

PEW RALLY

Hopel Chapel Missionary Baptist Church family, 4129 Dry Fork Road, Dry Fork, will celebrate its annual Pew Rally during the 11 a.m. service Sunday. An old-fashion luncheon will follow.

HOMECOMINGS

Mount Nebo Baptist Church will hold its homecoming at 11:30 a.m. with guests the Rev. Pierre Jones and the ARC Church family. Lunch will be served following the service.

Shockoe Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate homecoming service at 11 a.m. Sunday with the Rev. Antonel A. Myler Sr. speaking. Lunch will follow.
