Special to the Register & Bee
Tickets now are on sale for the second annual Wendell Scott Legacy Gala, a night of celebration in support of the Wendell Scott Foundation’s programs for children and families in the community and the 56th anniversary of NASCAR legend Wendell Scott’s first win.
This year’s gala will take place at 7 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research in Danville.
The Legacy Gala dinner has grown into a premier fundraising event, attracting more than 300 guests from across the country last year. The second annual event will feature silent auctions, elegant dining, dancing and live entertainment. This year’s theme will enchant guests with a “Winter Wonderland.”
All proceeds will bring funds and support to the foundation’s programs and services.
Tickets or tables are available for sale at www.wendellscott.org/annual-gala-2019.
Registrations are due by Nov. 15. Anyone interested in becoming a sponsor may contact Executive Director Chinique Scott at email@example.com or (434) 533-0097.
On Dec. 1, 1963, Scott broke the color barrier, becoming the first and only African American NASCAR driver to win a Grand National race, NASCAR’s highest level.
The Wendell Scott Foundation is a nonprofit organization and provides services such as job-skill training, education opportunities, mentoring and other supportive services to at-risk, underserved youth from ages of 8 to 18 in Danville and the surrounding areas.
