Mark Gignac, the executive director of the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research in Danville, will present a program this week for The Wednesday Club.

After graduating Virginia Tech, Gignac spent his early career building a electronic manufacturing business E.E.S. with his father, Roy Gignac, and served as president.

The business operated for more than three decades in Danville. As an entrepreneur, Gignac was always interested in the economic development aspect of a community and became involved with City Council, Danville Development Council, Dan River Business Development Center, Southside Rising Venture Capital, Southern Piedmont Technology Council and other groups.

His activities in the economic development area continue as the executive director of the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research. The Institute has a mission of economic transformation.

The program is set for 3:45 p.m. Wednesday at the club located at 1002 Main St. in Danville.
