The Danville Police Department welcomed six new officers who were sworn in Friday. As recruits, they completed their training at Piedmont Regional Criminal Justice Training Academy. The officers soon will begin their field training as they prepare to “hit the streets” and serve the community. Danville Police Department Chief Scott Booth emphasized the department motto “Deeds Not Words” in his remarks to the new officers. As part of this charge to them, Booth said, “I know you came here not just to wear a gun and a badge, but to make a difference in our community. I need you to have that guardian mindset.” The newly sworn officers are (from left) Scott. A. Eanes II, Phillip J. Hamlett, Jasmine C. Pointer, Steffany G. Ortiz, Heather L. Hopkins and Erin K. Long.
