Former supervisor dies
Edwin Shields, who served on the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors for 19 years, died Monday. He was 88.
The Dry Fork resident also served on the board of directors for Mount Hermon Volunteer Fire Department and was serving on White Oak Community Center’s board of directors at the time of his death.
He was also a former president of the Young Farmer Association of Pittsylvania County.
A member of Oakland United Methodist Church for more than 65 years, he was a member of its choir and served on its administrative council board for 49 years.
