Promoting health and wellness is a top priority for the annual Bridge-to-Bridge 5K and 10K, race director Karen Johnston said. “My goal is to really push people to be proactive about their health and being healthy,” she said.

“Everybody knows somebody who’s touched by cancer,” Johnston said. She happens to be one of those people. The idea for the race — set April 12 this year — came one day when Johnston was in the waiting room at the oncology lab. She was there for cancer treatments.
