Barksdale, Gretna easily handle Graham

BLUEFIELD, Va. — Jayme Barksdale accounted for 286 yards of total offense and Gretna jumped all over Graham in the second quarter in cruising to a 42-3 victory on Saturday at Mitchell Stadium.

The sophomore quarterback ran for 155 yards and a touchdown. Barksdale completed just 4 of 9 passes, but those completions went from 131 yards and two touchdowns.

The Hawks (4-0) outscored Graham 21-0 in the second quarter to take a 28-0 halftime lead.

Commillious Waller hauled in three of Barksdale’s passes for 102 yards and a touchdown, and Rod Taylor added six carries for 86 yards.

Kevin Dale returned an interception 26 yards for a touchdown to highlight another strong defensive effort, one in which Graham only managed 115 yards of offense.
