Westover Christian knocks off Temple
MADISON HEIGHTS — Westover Christian defeated Temple Christian 25-12, 25-12, 25-20.
Taylor Nunn had three aces and two kills for Westover (8-5, 4-3 VACA), while Amanda Alder-son had two kills and three aces, Meghan Setliff had two kills and two aces and Lauren Hand had eight assists.
Westover’s junior high team also defeated Temple 25-11, 25-12. Sydney Bowles had nine points, six aces and six assists for Westover (11-1, 5-1 VACA), while Natalie Petrovich had eight points, six aces and five kills and Holly Keller had 14 points.
Westover visits Timberlake on Monday.

Wentz leads Westover past Temple
MADISON HEIGHTS — Tyler Wentz scored twice as Westover Christian defeated Temple Christian 5-1 on Friday.
Josh Keller and Maria Matherly each had a goal and an assist, Jacob Beach added a goal and Jacob Nunn had an assist for the Bulldogs, who visit Timberlake on Monday.
Junior varsity football
Jackson, GW defeat Franklin County
ROCKY MOUNT — GW’s junior varsity team defeated Franklin County 38-20 on Thursday.
Terrance Jackson recorded more than 200 yards on the ground and two touchdowns to pace the GW. Allen “Kurt” Smith and Larry Younger also added rushing touchdowns for GW. Lamar Lee ended the first quarter with a 60-yard punt return for a touchdown. GW led 32- 0 at halftime.
Jerrod Motley recovered a fumble.
GW hosts E.C. Glass on Thursday.
