Second half woes haunt Hargrave
ROANOKE — Hargrave’s offense could not keep up with North Cross’ offense in the second half, falling 51-18 on Friday.
Down 26-12 at halftime, the Tigers (1-3, 0-1 VISFA) could only find the endzone once while North Cross’ (4-1, 1-0 VISFA) Tyler Caveness was the primary option in the win.
“Unfortunately, our momentum faltered every quarter and were unable to keep up with North Cross’ offense,” Hargrave coach David Tavenner said. “Offensively, we struggled to produce on a more consistent basis. We certainly did not perform at a level we were supposed to.”
The Tigers got two touchdown passes from T.J. Bennett, a 20-yarder to tight end Zach Edmunds and a 55-yard toss to wide receiver Chris Taylor. Dominique Clay rounded out the scoring with a 15-yard touchdown run.
