Tunstall knocks off Chatham in five sets

DRY FORK — Tunstall defeated Chatham 25-15, 23-25, 19-25, 25-14, 15-8 on Thursday.
Morgan Distad had 12 points, two aces and 18 assists for Tunstall, which improved to 4-0. Megan Dillion had 12 points, three aces and eight kills and Taylor Dix had nine points, three aces and 13 assists. Caitelyn Stephens had eight points, three aces and 15 kills and Taylor Hite added 10 points, four aces and 11 kills for Tunstall, which hosts Halifax County on Tuesday.
Chatham’s Leah Easley had 28 assists and seven aces, Shayna Keen had an ace and seven kills and Julie Motley had seven kills and three blocks. Chatham (2-3) visits GW on Tuesday.
Tunstall’s JV won 25-14, 25-11 to improve to 4-0. Tiffany McGregor had 13 points and eight aces and Corbin Holder had 11 points and four aces. Chatham’s Brianna Hess had seven service points.

Bartlett Yancey captures first win this season
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Bartlett Yancey rebounded from a five-set loss to Northern Guilford by defeating Dudley 25-19, 25-23, 25-15 on Thursday for its first victory of the season.
Mikayla Seamster had 11 digs and six aces for BY (1-2), while Rachel Shumaker added six digs and eight kills. Morgan Simpson had seven digs, six aces and nine assists.
BY’s junior varsity team also defeated Dudley 25-10, 25-18. The Buccaneers visit Rockingham on Tuesday.

Gretna downs George Washington in four games
GRETNA — Gretna outlasted George Washington in four games, winning 25-17, 25-14, 24-26 and 25-12 on Thursday night.
For the Hawks (1-2), Hannah Burnett had 17 assists and seven aces, Georgia Davis had 10 kills and Savanna Butts chipped in nine blocks and eight kills.
The loss dropped the Eagles to 0-5.
In JV action, Gretna took the match in three games, 27-29, 25-16 and 15-7.
Rachel Bundy and Lindsey Vasser led the way for Gretna with five aces and three aces, respectively.

William Campbell sweeps Buckingham
NARUNA — William Campbell made quick work of Buckingham, sweeping the three games 25-19, 25-7 and 25-10 on Thursday night.
For William Campbell (2-2), Jordan Haga had 26 assists and three aces, Samantha Isaacs added 13 kills and seven aces, Michaela Holbrooks chipped in five kills and Olivia Martin had six digs.

E.C. Glass takes down George Washington freshmen

LYNCHBURG — E.C. Glass easily took care of George Washington in 9th grade only football action, winning 34-14 on Thursday night.
The Eagles (0-1) scored on two rushing touchdowns — a seven-yard run by Shaw Johnson and a 70-yard run by Allen Smith.
