Chatham captures Dogwood District golf tournament

RINGGOLD — Led by Drew Arnold and his overall low score of 72, Chatham captured the Dogwood District tournament championship with a team score of 301 on Monday at Ringgold Golf Course.
Appomattox placed second with a 329, and both teams advance to the Region B tournament Monday at Manor Golf Course in Farmville.
Rachel Nicholson and Stanley Shelton each shot 76s for Chatham, while Jake Hardy shot a 77 and Jesse Wells and Cam Shelton each shot 79s. All six Chatham golfers were named to the All-Dogwood District team, which is comprised of 10 golfers. Robbie Betterton of Gretna and Hunter Johnson of Dan River were also named to the all-district team.
Nelson County placed third with a 347, followed by Dan River (348), Altavista (355) and William Campbell (371).
