Averett sweeps conference matches
STAUNTON, Va. – Averett took a pair of USA South volleyball matches, besting both Meredith College and Mary Baldwin College 3-0 on Sunday.
The Cougars (5-10, 4-1 USA South) beat Meredith by scores of 25-18, 25-18 and 25-21. Junior Jordan Maupin led Averett with 11 kills and 10 digs. Freshman Brittany Moore added 14 digs and eight kills, and senior Meredith Schwane had 24 digs. Freshman Jesse Jones finished with 26 assists.
Averett then knocked off Mary Baldwin 25-16, 25-14 and 25-8. Maupin had 12 kills, Schwane had 18 digs, Moore had 11 digs and Jones had 20 assists.

Heikkinen wins No. 1 singles title for Averett at Ferrum Fall Classic
FERRUM, Va. - Averett’s Johanna Heikkinen won the No. 1 singles title at the Ferrum Fall Classic women’s tennis tournament on Sunday.
Heikkinen defeated Lynchburg College’s Jessie Moore 6-3, 6-2 in the final. In the overall team competition, Guilford won and Averett finished in fourth.
