Averett men’s soccer team falls to Mountain State

Mountain State pulled away in the second half for a 4-0 victory over Averett on Friday at the Cougar Den.
After a tight first half, Mountain State (11-4) put together three goals in a six-minute span right after halftime to extend its advantage to 4-0.
Averett (1-11) held its ground throughout the first half, but Mountain State found the back of the net 41 minutes in when Marcio Alezandro Zabala Pena found Hasan Katrib for the first goal of the game.
Mountain State outshot Averett 25-9. Senior Joe Dusewicz made nine saves in goal.
Averett hosts an alumni game on Saturday at 11 a.m. before the homecoming football game.
