DCC baseball wins two, loses two over weekend

WARSAW — A day after taking two games from Southwest Virginia, Danville Community College dropped a doubleheader at Rappahannock on Sunday.
DCC’s Wesley Francis threw a five-hitter, struck out five and hit a pair of singles at the plate, but a defensive miscue behind him helped Rappahannock win 2-1.
The Knights (17-14, 4-2 VCCS) lost the nightcap 9-6. Chris Martin was a home run shy of the cycle and drove in a run, and Lea Turner and David Hudson added two singles. Jason Dodson also tripled.
On Saturday, DCC won by scores of 16-0 and 12-0 over Southwest Virginia Community College.
Dallas Wagner got the win with nine strikeouts. Turner led the offense with a triple and two RBIs and James Dudding chipped in with a double and an RBI.
Joe Kelly’s four-hitter helped DCC in the second game. Francis singled, doubled and drove in four, while Martin and Dodson both tripled and had four RBIs.
