Hundreds turn out for uranium mining meeting

Residents packed the auditorium at Chatham High School on Tuesday night to urge that a study on mining and milling uranium determines its effect on the area’s air and water, public health, economic development and agriculture.

Delegate calls for meeting on uranium study

A study of uranium mining in Virginia is expected to be adopted during a Nov. 6 meeting of the Coal and Energy Commission in Richmond. Delegate Terry Kilgore, R-Scott County, announced the meeting Tuesday.
