Recently we watched the documentary “Meeting David Wilson.” As some readers already know, it’s the true story of a young African-American journalist from Newark, N.J., named David Wilson. He traces his roots back to a plantation of his ancestor’s slave master. His name also is David Wilson – the owner of Short Sugar’s here in Reidsville. Their meeting together is documented in the film – this movie has earned critical praise, and for good reason.
The movie is powerful and well worth watching. We have donated eight DVDs to the public library – available countywide – and will soon donate a DVD to each high school. We encourage folks to check it out and watch it with their families.
