Thursday and Friday night football through the eyes of players and supporters of Morehead High School is depressing. Morale is as far down as it can get. There is talent on these teams.
As parents, we have watched our boys play and develop through the years. These players need our support and compassion. It takes a lot of courage to face these games each week. One question that floats through the stands every game, Why hire a coach with such a losing record?
(Principal Betty Harrington), you have sacrificed the self-esteem and football hearts of these players to save a few dollars. We have to take a stand and speak up for our children. These boys deserve someone equal to the effort these players put forth everyday.
Parents, I strongly urge you to speak up and stand up for your children. Don’t just sit in the stands and complain. Do something. Contact Mrs. Harrington or the athletic director at Rockingham County schools administration office. This football program is a joke. I, for one, am tired of seeing the negative effect it is having on our kids. Something needs to change now or we won’t even have a program next year.
