I write to thank Coach Mike Burchell for serving as a fine role model for the young people who have participated on the Holmes Middle School football team.
Anyone familiar with the Holmes Middle School football team knows that it earned an exemplary win-loss record during the seven years Coach Burchell served at its helm. Most importantly, Coach Burchell taught the youngsters participating on the football team that with dedication, hard work, and team effort, success would follow. A lot of things in life other than football are a lot like that….
And now we hear that Coach Burchell won’t be leading the Holmes Mustangs this season. Too bad. Our young people need more men like Mike Burchell.
So, for his tireless efforts in what is so too often a thankless job — coaching our young people —I thank Coach Burchell. Job well done, Mike.
